Volunteers in São Paulo serve 1 million free meals this year

The Cozinhas Solidárias network — 156 neighborhood kitchens across São Paulo — served its one-millionth free meal this week.
The kitchens are run almost entirely by volunteers, and use surplus produce that would otherwise be discarded by wholesale markets.
