A national grid milestone that took a decade of planning — and a lot of wind.

Portugal's electricity grid has run entirely on renewable sources for 149 consecutive days, the national operator REN confirmed this morning — the longest such streak in any European country.
Wind supplied 46% of the mix, hydro 28%, and a fast-growing solar sector the remainder. Grid-scale battery storage, once a bottleneck, has quintupled in the last two years.
Officials expect the streak to continue through the summer.
